The Trump administration will never bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia back to the United States. Trump wants Kilmar dead. Bringing him back will spotlight a trio of failures: a media firestorm framing it as a retreat, a blow to his pursuit of unchecked power, and a significant setback in his path toward building a state ruled by fear.
The last thing in the world Trump’s terrorist regime wants is the inevitable frenzy by the “enemy of the people” a.k.a. the media. Kilmar will inevitably be the poster child for the walking talking human rights abuse that is masquerading as our legitimate government. Bringing him back is not an option.
So, they ignore court orders and parade every stooge in the administration in front of friendly cameras. They repeat the same lies over and over: he’s a terrorist. He’s a gang-member. He’s a threat to your shitty little life.
All to shine a spotlight on him as he is wrongfully incarcerated in one of the world’s most notorious hellholes.
They know what the result of this is. Kilmar Abrego Garcia came to the United States escaping gang violence and a very real threat to his life and safety. He’s done everything right. He’s married to a U.S. citizen and has a family. He is law-abiding. The lies and dissembling from this regime do not change that.
The criminals at the head of this government have deliberately shipped him to a prison where the very people he was trying to escape are imprisoned. Is there any doubt that the corrupt pig of a president Nayib Bukele has ordered the prison guards to turn their heads at the right moment?
The vile and shameless meeting at the White House, where the corrupt bargain was sealed, took place in plain sight for the entire world to witness. Matt Lewis of The Hill put it best:
“To be fair, this wasn’t a solo act. It was full-blown Oval Office performance art — a dark comedy, starring El Salvador’s discount Mussolini, President Nayib Bukele; Attorney General Pam Bondi; Secretary of State Marco Rubio; and White House advisor Stephen Miller.”
There was even the clever distraction of the “homegrowns” comment to highlight the ultimate project: the end of due process in America. This has long been the Right’s wet dream. Speak out? Lock ‘em up. Criticize? Lock ‘em up. Silence dissent.
Now they want to deport anyone who dissents out of the reach of American courts, a key element in their quest to build a terror state.
The attacks on universities, schools, the media and the rule of law itself are all in service to this goal.
So, Trump wants Kilmar dead so the world will be safe for billionaires and their toadies.
