About The Gadfly

“Silence in the face of evil is evil itself.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The Gadfly chooses to remain somewhat anonymous when writing about topics that generate controversy. Although certainly not a state secret and some intrepid investigator could probably track me down eventually, today’s environment of harassment and hate mail makes one pause and take steps to maintain some semblance of privacy.

The Gadfly’s bona fides are such: a degree in criminal justice as well as a J.D. in law, 18 years living and working in Washington DC, interned in Congress, jobs with corporate lobbyists (yes I’ve been in that world), practiced federal civil rights litigation as well as garden variety general practice of law, and briefly worked for the Vice President.

Moved on to a variety of non profit executive positions (for actual charities, not dark money groups) and as a side activity spent many years as a jazz DJ in public radio in DC, Montana and California, and worked in public television for 5 years as well.

The Gadfly consumes far too much of our current events to remain silent any longer. I fear for the future of our democracy as the assaults are coming at a furious pace.
