Every damn time I dare to critique Trump, someone inevitably responds, “So, are you pro-Tesla arson now? Do you spend your weekends torching cars and chasing down unsuspecting Tesla owners?” Apparently, my opinions come with a complimentary membership to the ‘Vehicular Vendetta Club.’ The Tesla Trope strikes again!
Let’s unpack this shall we?
First off, congratulations on your stellar F in debate club—truly a masterclass in missing the point. “Whataboutism” is like showing up to a chess match with a deck of Uno cards: it’s flashy, but it doesn’t address the game at hand. It’s also the rhetorical equivalent of waving a white flag while shouting, “But look over there!” If your position had any legs, you’d be sprinting to make a real point instead of playing distraction Olympics.
NO. I don’t support or condone violence or property destruction in any case. It doesn’t solve anything, hurts sometimes innocent people, and it’s just wrong. Given the destruction of our constitutional order that’s underway daily, it’s also not at the top of my list of things to get worked up about.
Here’s what I have to say to Trump Supporters: SPARE ME YOUR COCODILE TEARS. For years you ridiculed Tesla vehicles, posted fake videos of allegedly exploding Teslas (yes they were fake) and mocked the owners of electric cars as clowns and stupid. Now, suddenly, you’re big Tesla fans? Cue the eye roll, hypocrisy is so common in MAGA-world that it doesn’t even land anymore.
On January 6, 2021 you forfeited your right to piss and moan about mob violence and property destruction.
The Orange Buffoon that you worship incited an insurrection, ordered a violent mob to the Capitol where they assaulted police officers, hunted the hallways for members of Congress and threatened to murder the Vice President of the United States. They engaged in a massive amount of property destruction, caused 5 deaths and smeared their feces on the walls of the Capitol.
All of this was done in the name of overthrowing our constitutional order. To this day you suck up the lies and openly cheer this on. Seditionists and traitors always have co-conspirators. Anyone who makes excuses, repeats the lies and attempts to rewrite the truth is one of them.
So please, spare us the Tesla Trope and pearl-clutching over a few vandalized cars while you cheer on the end of democracy in America.
In a sane world Donald Trump would be in prison, convicted of sedition and impeached.
